The spine of an adult human being is divided into four sections: Cervical spine (HWS), thoracic spine (BWS), lumbar spine (LWS) and sacral spine (Os sacrum). In kyphosis, the upper part of the spine is curved forward. This deformation may be congenital or may develop in the course of life, for example, when the body tries to compensate for other deformities.
