An der Extremitas proximalis findet man den hakenförmig gebogenen Fortsatz, das Olecranon. Dieser besitzt eine gewisse Rauhigkeit. Vorne ist die Incisura trochlearis, die bis zum Processus coronoideus reicht. Diese Vertiefung ist halbmond-förmig und ähnelt so einer Zange. Dorsal dieser Strukturen ist eine aufgeraute Fläche an der Ulna zu finden. Dies ist die Ansatzfläche des M. brachialis, das Tuberositas ulnae. Lateral liegt die Incisura radialis, in die die Circumferentia articularis (radii) eingepasst ist.
